Soldier of Fortune
Hi, all. I was hoping someone could help me out on this. I remember a song from (I'm pretty sure) the 80's that started out with "Soldier of Fortune..." and I don't remember any other words. It wasn't a slow song and actually had a more upbeat tempo. It was more rock than anything. I've searched file share sites and typed in "Soldier of Fortune" as the title, but have yet to find it. I thought I nailed it when I sampled Deep Purple's, but alas I was wrong! DP's is slow, but this one isn't. I appreciate any input or leads. Thanks you! - Poe

Thanks for responding. I know it isn't the Donny Osmond one, but I can't find the Marc Jordan one anywhere to sample it. So I'm not sure if it is that one or not. I even downloaded another Marc Jordan song just to hear his voice, and he isn't ruled out yet based on that. Is his "Soldier of Fortune" song a more upbeat song? If I could think of a band to compare it with, I would think Pink Floyd, The Firm, or something along those lines. If you know where I can listen to a clip of it to see, please let me know. Amazon has the Youngblood sountrack, but not the option to sample it. :( I assume the name of the song I am thinking is "Soldier of Fortune", just because I know the first line of the song starts out singing that. Maybe it isn't. Thanks again! - Poe

Soldier of Fortune
Well I found the Marc Jordan song and unfortunately it isn't it. I guess there is a strong possibility that the song I'm thinking of isn't titled "Soldier of Fortune". It starts out saying that, but I can't remember any other words in the song. I can sort of remember the tune a little. Oh, well. If anyone can think of what I might mean, please let me know. Even if it's a year from now, chances are I still won't know then.

Thanks!

Soldier of Fortune
Poe,

Are the lyrics to the song you're looking for the same as the Deep Purple song? If so, then we can search by composer.

Some other 'Soldier Of Fortune' titled songs that made Billboard...

Song Title: Soldier Of Fortune

ARTISTS:

1974 Deep Purple

1977 Alan O'Day

1977 Thin Lizzy

1981 Joe Perry Project

1983 Manhattan Transfer

Not Listed In Billboard

1983 JOHN PAUL YOUNG - SOLDIER OF FORTUNE {Italo Disco}

1989 Loudness - Soldier Of Fortune

(HARD ROCK AND HEAVY METAL GROUP FORMED IN JAPAN)

Soldier of Fortune
Thank you for all of your help. I do not believe the lyrics are the same as the Deep Purple song because the one I'm thinking of starts out saying "Soldier Of Fortune" and I dont' think DP's song does. I am really thinking now that this song I'm thinking of says soldier of fortune in it, but it musn't be the title. I've sampled all the songs with that title that I came across (and checked out all the leads you gave me), but no luck. Oh, well. I guess I'll just have to hope that one day a radio station will play it and I can listen more carefully to the lyrics and if they say who it is. It wasn't even that big of a deal till I couldn't find it. Now it's like an obsession! Had I found it easily, I probably wouldn't even be listening to it anyhow. LOL! Now I am on a mission! Looks like I hit a brick wall though. Again, thank you for trying to help me out. :)

Soldier of Fortune
Two obscure options... Chris Rea "Just Passing Through" (1986)

Soldiers of fortune lost in the wind
No destinations and nothing to win
Keep your head above the water, you get dirty and mean
Scrubbing forever and you never come clean

or Richard Clapton "Soldier of Fortune"
